I will tell you that this first week of planning has had MANY up's and downs!
First, let me start by telling you about our favorite band. Crowfield is a band out of charleston whom Jeff and I have just fallen in love with. I remember the first time we went and saw them. It was April of 2009 at a local joint called The Pour House. It's a small music venue with great atmosphere. We only went becuase someone asked us to come. At the time, none of us really knew the band, we just were going to have something to do. The Singer came out with long hair & a long beard wearing a three piece suit. My first thought was "O God, what did we get ourselves into." The second he started singing I was mesmerized. I'm pretty sure I didn't talk once during the show. His voice was so soothing and the music was AWESOME. Since then, Jeff and I have seen Crowfield a dozen times. Yes, we have even followed them to Black Mountain, North Carolina. That show was one of the greatest because after the show we meet and had a drink with them. I even joked about them playing at our wedding.
1st down of the week -
So.....that's where we are at.....I e-mailed there PR person and asked last Friday night in hopes that they would do it. Tyler (the lead singer) had told me at the black mountain concert that we just needed to give them enough time in advance. The idea was awesome, or so I thought. First, they responded by saying that they normally don't do wedding stuff because they don't get to play their own music. The cool thing was, we only wanted them for an hour and we only wanted them to play THEIR music. That's why we like them anyways. But, the next response was "They were honored you wanted them to play at your wedding, but unfortunately they are going to have to say no." BOOM - rejected. I was crushed. The idea I had for our wedding was great and I'm sure it will be great without them, but I was bummed.
1st perk of the week -
After sitting down with my parents and discussing our date, we realized that April 7th falls on Easter weekend. We decided that if we were going to ask someone to marry us we needed to do it quick in hopes that they would be available. I emailed our old pastor from Hartsville. She knows both Jeff and I. I was grateful to hear back from her during the week saying that she was excited we had asked her, and that she had penciled it into her books. Thank God one thing has gone our way.
2nd down/perk of the week -
I received a message Friday morning stating how we almost lost our chance at the Harbour Club. The Harbour Club is where we are looking for both our ceremony and receptiong. It's a beautiful place downtown Charleston. There was another couple looking at the same venue on the same day. Looks like we need to make this decision and soon. We have a meeting booked with her for this upcoming week. Keep fingers crossed it goes well. I didn't know wedding planning was so cut throat.
Geez, this week was crazy and it was only week one and there's still a TON of stuff to do. Hopefully we can hack it!
