First Flush Festival

The First Flush Festival is held on Wadmalaw Island just outside Charleston. The Charleston Tea Plantation is the home of American Classic Tea, the ONLY tea grown in America. Its grounds include 127 acres of Camellia Sinensis tea plants. The festival name, First Flush, is defined as the growth of new leaves on the tea plants in the spring time after a winter of rest. Their "first flush" of new growth is harvested to produce what avid tea drinkers deem to be the most unique, fresh, and amazing cup of tea. For us though, the first flush festival is a great time for awesome music. Last year, Renee, Jeff and I went to see our favorite band Crowfield. We also witnessed the refreshing beer "Son of a Peach" by RJ Rockers. YUM! So...when we heard that Leslie was playing this year, we had to go.

I will say, we were smarter this time. Last year Crowfield went on at noon. We sat out in that blazing sun all afternoon and were beat by 4 pm. This year I borrowed a tent from a co-worker and we set up shop. We had chairs, blankets and the shade. It was actually perfect. There was a seperate section for tents. We got there right at 11 knowing we'd be there all day. We set up shop and had a wonderful view for the whole show.

Next year, we will bring a cooler of food, as well as Matty. This year though it was great that both Becca and Renee came down. We listened to some Great music. Leslie rocked out as usual.

Plus, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals were amazing. Grace Potter is amazing. I know for a fact that I have listened to her CD every day. It just pumps me up before getting to work.

We definitely were ecstatic to know that "Son of a Peach" was available. Again, it was delicious. I'll tell you a secret. Do Not get this in a bottle. Always get out of the tap. It just doesn't taste the same. We are lucky that the local beer store sells it in growlers. It's my favorite beer of the summer! Try it!

The real reason Becca and Renee came down is to see my wedding dress. It was so random that I found the perfect dress my first time trying them on. Becca and Renee weren't there and there was NO way I was going to buy a dress without them seeing it first. So we made our way to the dress shop. I tried on a couple more dresses but they both agreed the dress I had found the first time was the ONE! It is beautiful.  We took a couple pictures to send to Ashly and Ashley. But quickly erased in case Jeff was to be curious one day. Ha.
So - I have found my dress! Very excited!

I only have one week of school left. God how the year goes by so quick! Unfortunately I have been sick. Seriously, who gets sick this time of the year. Yup, I do. UGH. I actually had to take my first sick day in two years. But, I just have to keep trucking. In reality it's not even a week. No School Monday which means Tuesday is that last full day then Wednesday and Thursday are half days. It's exciting and fun though! Summer Break is so close!

Jeff has been in New Orleans since Wednesday. He's returning tonight! I miss him. He's been there for a Bachlor Party Weekend with his buddies. His friend Craig is getting married. Craig and Pam's wedding is at the end of August. We are excited to go up to Rhode Island to witness their nuptials and of course to see everyone again. Jeff's friends are Great. It's always a Good Time.

You know, I thought I would be better at this blog thing. I can't believe I have been such a slacker. With no summer job I'm sure I'll be working hard on the wedding planning and keeping you guys updated more often! It's a Promise!
